MELT MY ♥ Daily Dose - Mark 7:7-9 - Stand up for the Truth in today's Society

MELT MY ♥ Daily Dose - Mark 7:7-9 (NIV)
"7 They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.' 8 You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men." 9 And he said to them: "You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions!"

The Chapter details the clash between human 'Religious' traditions (oral laws) and the true word of God (the written word; the Truth). The Pharisees were very respected men of God. They believed in the Old Testament and tried to obey all of God's laws as well as the oral laws they created of which Jesus deemed unimportant.  Jesus wanted them to focus on the truth rather than living in 'Religion'.  They had a problem with that and hated Jesus and refused to listen or respect him. They were filled with pride so who was this man of lower class and not an intellectual telling us how to obey our almighty God?
Mark 7, is an example, the Pharisees saw Jesus and his disciples eating without washing their hands first and became offended and questioned him about it.  According to their laws it was ceremonial for them to wash there hands in a certain way before eating.  How dare Jesus and his disciples disobey God. Jesus replies them in todays daily dose Mark 7:6-9" 6 He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.  7 They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’ 8 You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.”  9 And he continued, “You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions!
How epic and true! Think about society today how Christmas has become about gift giving, trees & ornaments and Easter with the Easter bunny, Easter baskets etc...  I was watching a recent show on CBN  (Christian Broadcast Network) and they asked random people the biggest holiday and most choose Easter. But the kicker is none of them knew the meaning of Easter.  Some of the answers were funny but it's really sad that only one person got in right. What are we teaching in Church's?  Do we as Christians need to evangelize more and educate people?  I have even seen born -again Christians celebrating Halloween with the excuse of it's all about costumes.  I won't even get into the evil behind Halloween that's an entire different post.
Some of us have also become so self righteous that we are living to please our Pastors, look good to fellow Christians rather than really grasping the truth that God has given us.  This is Lent, do a self check no matter the Christian denomination you are we all believe in his resurrection.  Are you living to impress others in church with your knowledge or are you living in obedience to God's word?  This is not a joke! Jesus suffered and died for our sins, his blood was shed on the cross for our redemption when you choose to follow him do it wholeheartedly. Don't do it to make yourself look good, get a tax break, add a title to your name, or to be boastful.  Do not be filled with pride. Stand up for the truth according to the word of God and refuse to adapt yourself to today's interpretation of the word of God.
If you have to go back to read the bible to get a better understanding do so.  A lot of us have been misled to live in 'Religion' and missing the truth.  There is so much more freedom, love, peace in the truth rather than being so rigid living in Religion.   Maybe it's time for you to find another church, new friends, grow spiritually, get out of being a Sunday to Sunday Christian, that's how I was misled.  Until I started doing my own Bible study and research I was so lost.  It's never too late to repent, remember our God is a forgiving God.  Remember to stand up for the truth and evangelize or teach someone about the truth.  A lot of lost souls out there as brothers & sisters in Christ we have to help each other.  God Bless you today ♥
